The Alphabet Street Wall Cards are a classroom essential. They are used daily during Drill and Review. Children refer to the Wall Cards while singing “Our ABC Song,” while printing the alphabet, and whenever they need to recall letter sounds as they read. Each brightly colored 12" x 18" laminated card illustrates two alphabet letters, making it easy to arrange them in your own classroom space. For a continuous row we overlap the borders. The pictures that are associated with each letter represent the letter sound with an action. They do not represent an object whose name begins with the letter sound because introducing students to beginning sounds before teaching them what sound they are listening for is a stumbling block for many children. The Stellar Phonics to Reading method does not require the beginning learner to know how to hear the separate letter sounds in a word, then to be able to distinguish which of those separate sounds is the first sound, just to learn the letter sound being taught. Kindergarten Set includes 23 cards, 2 alphabet letters per card (except one) representing 45 spoken sounds in the English language. (For Kindergarten: these Wall Cards are used and extended to include short vowels, and other sounds such as th, sh, and so on. The spellings of each sound that will be covered in kindergarten are listed on the roof.) |
