Student Workbook 4 introduces M, N, O, P, U, Q, R. You cannot print
any words containing Q without also printing U so U is introduced first. The
students progress to reading short story books. Stellar Stories 1- 6 are
beginning readers designed to be read in conjunction with Student Workbook
4. In addition to recognizing beginning sounds, students will now identify
ending sounds and vowel sounds. At this point in your phonics program many
students will really take off in their ability to read. They get tremendously
excited with their new skills. These 25 lessons continue to exercise the skills
learned in the previous lessons while adding new letters and sounds. Lessons
56–80 teach the following skills and concepts:
Ending sounds.
Middle (vowel) sounds.
Reading beginning readers (Stellar Stories 1–6).
Stellar Stories contain only words that can be decoded with
the letter sounds learned.
Stellar Stories contain no sight words to confuse emergent readers.
Stellar Stories transition children from individual words and
sentences in workbooks, or on the board, to books.
Stellar Stories provide the foundation for introducing discussions
that analyze what children have read
All Student Workbooks 2–9 include the
