One side has the picture, and the other side has the beginning letter and word. They are an essential tool for teaching children beginning sounds. Once a letter sound has been introduced, pull out all the pictures that begin with that letter and teach the class to hear the letter sound at the beginning of the word. Phonics Photos are used daily, mixing all the sounds learned to a given point, for review, reinforcement, and remediation. Pull one or two cards for each sound learned, and use them to assess the children’s knowledge of sounds. Later, the same cards work well for teaching ending sounds, rhyming, and syllables. |
