All
the world’s a game—a chess game—in Lewis Carroll’s classic tale of a
Looking-Glass world where everything is backwards including "proper
manners." Alice meets Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, Humpty Dumpty,
and an assortment of farcical royalty in Looking-Glass Land. The
absurd rules Victorian adults imposed on their children provides a
parallel to Carroll’s pompous imaginative creatures in several
informative articles. Many of Carroll’s word and logic games provide
advanced thinking skills as well as humorous entertainment. Several
complete chapters of Through the Looking-Glass are included,
and synopses and excerpts of the other chapters provide transitions
in between.
