Maurice's Room by Paula Fox tells the story of a young boy who loves to collect things from the city streets. No matter how big or awkward, if he likes it he gets in into his room somehow. Maurice’s room is his own private museum. Needless to say his parents don’t understand him or his collection, and a lack of communication ensues.

This packet was written to help students prepare for the STAR writing test. The four types of writing required by the California State Standards are introduced with graphic organizers, paragraph guides, kid-friendly star-shaped rubrics, and student samples written by California fourth graders. Maurice’s Room book sold separately.
